Evaluate your favorite web site based on our discussion of Structure, Content, Design, and Behavior. This is a written assignment that should be emailed to me (tswallace@ualr.edu) no later than 8-27-15. Make sure you discuss the following elements: Site URL, An assessment of the Structure, Content, Design, and Behavior of the site, Things you like about the site, Things you would change.
Homework (Due 8.27.15): Write your first blog post reflecting on your first week in the program and your personal expectations for the class. Make sure you catergorize and/or tag the post. Find a jQuery tutorial/technique on the web. When evaluating the script make sure that the page is still usable without Javascript enabled. You should pick something that can be integrated into your current site to meet the above mastery requirement. Submit the URL to me via email of the working script. Due Monday.

Upload your working version to you web space and send me the url. Make sure to do some customization so you get the opportunity to play with editing the calls to jQuery. Please send me the working URL before class on Wednesday.
Complete the practice assessment before class on Tuesday. We will review in class on Tuesday. Your final web assessment will be May 12, 10:30am – 12:30pm.
Begin looking for ways you can implement jQuery into your final project. Identify what is it you’d like to do (image gallery, carousel, lazy load etc.) and begin researching what it takes to get it implemented.
Make sure you include analytics into your final project.
Additional Reading and Study – Javascript 101
Read the following Article on Progressive Enhancement. Send me an email (tswallace@ualr.edu) explaining progressive enhancement in your own words. Please discuss why it is important to use progressive enhancement and include a link to another article you found and read relating to the topic. Due before class Wednesday.
Research and select a Bootstrap Theme to apply to your rapid prototype. Once the theme has been applied, upload the project and send me the URL. Due Tuesday.
Complete Getting Started with programming at Codecademy. Send me a a screenshot of the completion page. I recommend creating an account so you can save your progress and completion other modules in the future.
Today I’d like you to use Bootstrap to implement the wireframe you created for your final project. On Thursday, be prepared to give a status update on your final project and demo your rapid prototype to the class.
Complete the planning document and sitemap and submit to me via email before class on Monday.
Spend some time reviewing the Twitter Bootstrap Documentation and be prepared to implement a sample bootstrap page using your wireframe concept due on Tuesday.
Submit Segway project no later than Monday.
Provide a working example of both an Audio and Video implementation using HTML5. This should be cross browser and work in IE 9 as well as modern browsers. Be prepared to discuss the implementation in class on Thursday. Included on the page should be the url of technique you used and a list of browsers and devices you were able to support.
For next Tuesday please have wireframe of your your final project ready. We will do a rapid prototyping exercise in class using the Bootstrap framework.
Complete project and email to me prior to class on Monday.
Submit your Individual Web Project (Due 4/3/2015)
I’d like you to come up with and idea for a final project responsive web site. I’d like this project to incorporate the the use of responsive design practices and utilize some of the new html5 api’s. This can be for a fictitious client or a real world client or project. Be creative. Pick something you are interested in learning more about. I’d like you to write a paragraph or two explaining the project and what you hope to accomplish/learn by completing the project. In addition I’d like you to create a preliminary sitemap for your site and complete the client questionnaire.
Please email this to me before class on the Tuesday. Be prepared to discuss your idea in class.
